How the Instagram comment picker works
Paste the URL of a public Instagram post or Reel. The preview reads post details and the visible comment count without asking you to connect an Instagram account or hand over a password. It never displays the comments themselves.
Continue into the standalone Contests for Instagram app to import the comments, apply your eligibility rules, and draw a random winner. Every draw keeps a record of the entrant count, the time, and the selection method, which is the part a screenshot of a spinning wheel cannot give you.

What a random comment picker should actually do
- Treat one person as one entry, so a commenter who posts ten times does not get ten chances unless your rules say so.
- Draw with a random number source that is not biased toward the start or end of the list.
- Select winners and ordered backups in a single pass, so nobody can be drawn twice.
- Record what happened: how many unique entrants there were, when the draw ran, and who was selected.
- Leave the eligibility judgment to you, because randomness alone never proves that a winner followed the rules.
Comments are messier than they look
The comment count you see on a post is rarely the number of people eligible to win. Comments get deleted between your closing time and your draw. Instagram hides some behind filters. One enthusiastic account can leave the same tag fifteen times. Accounts go private or disappear entirely.
That gap is why the visible count in the preview above is indicative rather than final. When the app imports the comments it works from what it can actually retrieve, collapses repeat entries from the same handle, and shows you the unique entrant count you are really drawing from.

Comment picker or giveaway picker?
They run the same draw and cost the same. The difference is where you start. Use this page when the comments on a post are the entry mechanic and you want to pull a random commenter out of them.

Instagram promotions still need official rules
Meta's promotion guidelines make the promoter responsible for lawful operation, eligibility terms, and any approvals that apply. Instagram promotions must include a release of Instagram and state that Instagram does not sponsor, endorse, administer, or associate with the promotion.
Publish those rules before entries open, and keep your entrant list, rules, draw time, and winner together once the draw is done.

Is this Instagram comment picker free?
The manual picker on this page is free with no account, and always will be. Importing comments from a post URL includes one free eligible draw for new accounts, up to 100 comments. Larger posts use a one-off Campaign Pass, and there is no subscription.
How does the random comment picker choose a winner?
The browser picker uses the Web Crypto API with rejection sampling, which avoids the modulo bias that a naive random number gives you. The app draws at random from the unique entrants it imported. Neither method uses AI or any judgment about the comment itself.
Do I need to log in to Instagram?
No. Nothing here asks for your Instagram password or requires you to connect an Instagram account. The post needs to be public so it can be inspected.
Does it work with Reels?
Yes. Paste a Reel URL the same way you would a post URL. Comments on Reels are imported and drawn from exactly like comments on a feed post.
How are duplicate comments from the same person handled?
Repeat comments from one handle are collapsed into a single entry, so somebody who comments twenty times gets one chance. Leading @ symbols are removed and handles are compared without regard to capitalisation, so @Alex and alex count as the same person.
Can I require a tag or a mention in the comment?
Publish that requirement in your rules, then verify it on the selected entrant before you award the prize. Check that the winning comment did what your rules asked, and if it did not, redraw and note the reason in your draw record.
Can I get the comments out as a file?
Yes. Once the app has imported the comments on a post you can export them, which is useful for keeping an entrant list alongside your published rules. The Instagram comment exporter page covers that on its own.
Does this work for Facebook, YouTube, or TikTok comments?
Not yet. Comment import covers Instagram posts and Reels today. You can still use the manual picker on this page to draw from any list of names you have collected yourself, whatever platform they came from.
Can I pick more than one winner?
Yes. Set a winner count, and optionally a number of ordered backups, before you draw. Winners and backups come out of one pass without replacement, so if your first choice never replies you can promote the next backup and record why.
