Campaign blueprint

Start with the complete working structure, then adjust the language, timing, and incentive to fit your customers and brand.

Best used when

Your team has a specific decision or growth objective and needs a focused artifact to move from planning to launch.

Objective

Generate authentic post-delivery visual content

Audience

Recent buyers with a parcel in transit or just delivered, the only people who can enter at all. Do not push it to your whole list: prospects and older customers see an offer they cannot take, and that dead click costs you attention on the next send.

Recommended duration

2 to 3 weeks, sized to cover a full shipping cycle

What to measure

Entries as a share of parcels delivered in the window, plus how many photos show the packaging clearly enough to use

Prize ideas

  • the next product delivery on the house
  • A focused product bundle for the same customer need
  • Store credit paired with a bestselling product

Entry design

Primary action

Upload a photo

Bonus actions

Enter with emailFollow on Instagram

Campaign timeline

  1. 1Two weeks before launch: get the prompt card printed and onto the packing bench
  2. 2Week 1: parcels ship with the card, the dispatch email carries the same ask, and entries start as deliveries land
  3. 3Weeks 2 to 3: repost approved entries to Instagram, which is where the follow bonus action earns its place
  4. 4Close a week after the last parcel lands, then draw and ship the winner's free delivery

Launch checklist

  • Prompt cards printed, counted, and at the packing bench before day one
  • Entry window sized to your slowest shipping lane, not your fastest
  • Rules covering reuse, the social platform disclaimer, and what happens to photos showing addresses
  • One person named to review entries daily while parcels are landing

Promotion copy

Your order ships this week. Photograph the box before you open it and upload the shot to enter, and one entrant gets their next delivery on us.

What you get

What this template gives you

Three specifics worth checking against your own store before you launch.

A prompt card in the box catches a 30-second moment

Entries arrive on your delivery curve, not your calendar

Packaging worth filming does most of the work

How to put it into practice

How to put it to work

Start with the focused version, publish, and let the first answers steer the next iteration.

  1. 1

Print a prompt card for the box: what to shoot, the prize, and where to upload, in one line

  2. 2

Repeat the same ask in the dispatch email so the parcel is expected before it lands

  3. 3

Run the window across a full shipping cycle, then review entries against the rules before anything gets reposted

Mistakes to avoid

Protect the quality of the result

Strong execution usually comes from removing ambiguity and keeping every action tied to the original objective.

Filming a parcel that was never designed to be filmed: a poly mailer and a receipt

Telling customers about the challenge only after they have opened the box

A window shorter than your shipping time, which silently excludes your slowest lanes

Asking for video when the entry action, and the rules, are built for a photo

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before you launch

What makes an unboxing worth entering?

The packaging. If the parcel is a plain mailer with an invoice inside, there is nothing to shoot and no prize will fix it. Tissue, a printed insert, a sticker, or a note with the customer's name gives the photo a subject. Fix the box first, then run the campaign.

When should I ask customers to enter?

Before the box is open, which means the ask has to travel with the parcel. A card inside the box, a line on the packing slip, and a mention in the dispatch email cover the three moments a customer is paying attention. An email a week later asks people to remember a moment that has already gone.

How long should the entry window be?

One full shipping cycle plus a buffer, because only delivered parcels can produce entries. If your slowest lane takes ten days, a seven-day challenge quietly cuts out those customers. Open it for two to three weeks, and read the entry curve as a delivery report while you are at it.

Do I need permission to repost an unboxing photo?

Yes, and the clean way to get it is in the entry terms rather than by DM afterwards. Name the channels, the term, and whether you can crop or caption over the image. Whatever the terms say, leave out photos that show a shipping label, a front door, or a child.
